The Los Cabos municipality’s East Cape is a stunning 70-mile coastal arc that stretches from the outskirts of San Jose del Cabo northwards to the beautiful Bay of Palms. For decades, the pristine and lightly developed East Cape has been seen as a time machine version of the “old Cabo”, a land of dirt roads and small, off-the-grid communities.
That traditional view is starting to change slightly as the Four Seasons brand develops a luxurious resort at Costa Palmas, and breathtaking beachfront residences take shape at magical settings like El Encanto de la Laguna. But the East Cape still retains its unspoiled beauty and natural wonder, its gloriously untamed coastline and one-of-a-kind attractions.
The East Cape, for instance, is home to the Gordo Banks, one of the area’s most legendarily abundant fishing grounds, and also to Punta Colorada, famed far and wide as the “roosterfish capital of the world.” The East Cape boasts hidden surf gems like Shipwrecks and Nine Palms, as well as the truly amazing offshore marine sanctuary at Cabo Pulmo, home to one of the oldest and largest living coral reefs in the Western Hemisphere.
It’s a special place, with huge swaths of beachfront paradise still available.
